Beauty Base London is a completely new phenomenon...
A make-up school where you can learn the art of fashion photographic make-up. This One, Two or Three Weeks Course, extremely intense and exclusive course will give students a thorough grounding in the make-up they see around them on the catwalks, in pop videos and in fashion magazines. The experts, whose names appear regularly in glossy fashion magazines, will teach these skills. Many students will benefit from the five selective courses Beauty Base London offers each year. Renowned for being intense, fun and exciting but yet under controlled conditions unlike other schools who continue to churn out insipid classes throughout the year like a factory run machine! The school remains highly respected and awarded five stars for being the best trainer and was reviewed here... five star article
Beauty Base London offers postgraduates an exciting opportunity to enter its annual competition. Applicants will be required to do a test shoot independently and submit the best example of their work to be judged by a panel of high profile fashion figures and make-up experts.
Mai Lee herself is beauty editor for Gloss Magazine. The winner will assist her on a beauty shoot and will receive their own 'tear sheet', an entire beauty page to themselves! The competition is supported by Storm Models. You will be given a make-up gift and the chance to have work published in a magazine, credited to you. This is a truly rare opportunity, unique to Beauty Base London and the prize will enable the winning student to fast track their burgeoning career as a make-up artist in any direction of their chosen field. In this sense, it is a first. In the setting of a centrally located studio, students will learn to use products provided by the school from Mac, Armani, Chanel, Christian Dior, amongst others. The course will commence with foundation and cover all aspects of preparing and making up the skin and then progress on to eyes, lips, cheeks, and eyebrow shaping. Beauty Base London aims to equip students with the techniques and the confidence to step out of the classroom and into a new and dynamic career. When students leave the school, they will be given the school`s own certificate of completion, which is accredited by Babtac.

Make-up by Mai Lee, beauty base founder.
Beauty Base London is affiliated with Big and One Make-up Agency. Each graduate will have the opportunity to be placed on assistant lists with the chance to work alongside some of the best names in the fashion business, possibly during London Fashion Week and on stills, commercial shoots, and pop videos. What's more, each student will graduate from Beauty Base London with advice on how to put together a portfolio of their work and a full professional make-up kit, enabling them to start creating looks the minute they leave the school.
Mai Lee is an accomplished and skilled make-up artist with extensive experience in the fashion, film, television, and music industries. Every season she works behind the scenes on the teams of a raft of top fashion shows. Her editorial credits include the Sunday Times, Glamour, Marie Claire, Elle, and British, American, Russian and Italian Vogue as well as underground titles like ID, Dazed and Confused, Tank, and French Jalouse. Her work is characterised by a fearless use of colour and precise application. She marries artistic experimentalism: splashing eyes with greens and blues with high accuracy of application. She is highly versatile, one day producing the perfect nude face, a seamless blend of flattering beige and biscuit tones; the next she may be body painting like an abstract artist. Mai Lee's knowledge of cosmetics is breathtaking. Her make-up box a treasure trove of beauty secrets from around the world. It is this knowledge and experience that she brings to Beauty Base London.
